Ross Rivera Wins the StatSheet Big West Sixth Man of the Week - February 6th, 2012

Kwame Vaughn from Cal State Fullerton has earned StatSheet's Big West Player of the Week award for February 6th. Alan Williams from UC-Santa Barbara has earned StatSheet's Big West Freshman of the Week. And last but certainly not least, Ross Rivera takes home StatSheet's Big West 6th Man of the Week.

Vaughn topped the Big West in assists (7.5 per game). He also tallied 60% shooting, 6.5 rebounds per game, and 3.5 three pointers per game. The Cal State Fullerton junior played well for the Titans in wins versus Cal Poly and UC-Santa Barbara.

Vaughn posted 14 points and 9 assists in 34 minutes in a big 83-61 win over Cal Poly. In the next game he led all scoring with 37 points and added 6 assists in a 99-86 victory against UC-Santa Barbara.

This is the first StatSheet Big West Player of the Week honor for Kwame Vaughn. However, he has been a runner-up more than once. The runner-up this week is senior Larry Anderson from Long Beach State. Honorable mention goes to Long Beach State senior T.J. Robinson. The highest ranking player from Pacific was Travis Fulton who finished 15th.

StatSheet Big West Freshman of the Week: UC-Santa Barbara's Alan Williams

Alan Williams played an average of 26 minutes starting both games for UC-Santa Barbara. He bested all Big West freshmen in both scoring (16.5 pts per game) and free throws (6.5 per game). In an 85-70 win over Cal State Northridge, Williams led all rebounding for the Gauchos with 9 and also pitched in 75% shooting. Then in a 99-86 loss to Cal State Fullerton, he added 14 points and 2 blocked shots.

Amazingly, Alan Williams has won the StatSheet Big West Freshman of the Week 3 times. The runner-up is Michael Caffey from Long Beach State. Austin Quick from UC Riverside takes honorable mention.

StatSheet Big West 6th Man of the Week: Pacific's Ross Rivera

Sophomore Ross Rivera, a 6-7 reserve forward, played an average of 22 minutes over two games for the Tigers. In a 60-52 win against UC Riverside, Rivera led all Tigers in scoring with 19 points and contributed 5 rebounds. Then in a 72-64 victory against UC Irvine, he racked up 14 points and 2 rebounds.

This is the second StatSheet Big West 6th Man of the Week honor for Ross Rivera. Elliott Berry, a senior forward from UC Riverside, is runner up. Aqeel Quinn, a sophomore guard from Cal State Northridge, receives honorable mention. Pacific has yet to win the StatSheet Big West Player of the Week award this season.

Weekly Leaders
